Nakagawa Masashichi Shoten Shibuya
The Akita Museum of Art was designed by Tadao Ando, one of Japan's most prominent architects. It features a spiral staircase without wall supports or pillars, and an open plan lounge space when you can view beautiful scenery out across a pond. The entrance hall with its large triangular atrium is also worth seeing. Inside there are works from the famous painter Tsuguharu Fujita on display, along with exhibitions from a range of other artists. One particularly eye-catching piece by Fujita is a 20 meter wide mural called "Akita no Gyoji," which depicts various activities integral to life in Akita.
